Atrium Volunteer Week: July, 2017
Well done and a big Thank You to all of our colleagues who participated in our recent Volunteer Week!
Assisting at three different opportunities - our teams of Atrium staff each made a positive contribution to the local community.
Volunteer Week kicked off on Monday with FareShare in Deptford, a fantastic operation that redistributes food and drink that would otherwise go to waste to frontline services across the UK. More than 60,000 people benefit from its services every day. Our team had a busy day distributing food to centres all over the Capital and seeing the benefits of this great service, and the food stations and drop in centres that they facilitate, first hand.
On Tuesday we assisted at the annual Olga Primary School Sports Day at Wennington Green.
Olga Primary School is our educational partner where we regularly participate in a Reading Partners programme and other educational activities. We took part in their 2016 Sports Day and were delighted to be asked back again this year.
On Friday we participated at a new venture for us; the lovely Brockwell Park Community Greenhouses.
Brockwell Park Community Greenhouses (BPCG) is a community garden in the centre of Lambeth’s Brockwell Park where the team help people grow through learning, and learn through growing.
They run a drop in garden volunteering scheme, school visits, family events, courses and workshops. At BPCG, people learn about conserving the environment and wildlife, to appreciate nature and to understand organic gardening and food growing – and all in a very friendly community spirit. Our team assisted with a variety of gardening tasks in the glorious sunshine.
It was great to see some new faces sign up for this week and we hope you will join us again for other activities. Thank you all.
