Atrium is very pleased to announce that Wesley Butcher will become the Head of Atrium’s US Professional Liability team with effect from 1st September 2014. Wes joined Atrium in 2000 working on the Casualty Reinsurance account in his early years before working exclusively on the Professional Liability business since 2005.

Wes’s appointment is in line with our succession plan and follows Simon Anthony and David LeGrys’ independent decisions to retire before the end of this year. David started his Lloyd’s career at Langton Syndicate 10 in 1971 and was joined by Simon in 1979 and they have subsequently worked together throughout their careers that had seen them at Ace Syndicate 47 before joining Atrium in 1998.

Richard Harries, Active Underwriter of Atrium Syndicate said:

“We will clearly be very sorry to say goodbye to Simon and David, two highly respected and well regarded underwriters, after a combined 78 years in the Lloyd’s market.  They have certainly earned their retirement.

I would like to thank them for their significant contribution to Atrium as well as recognise how their professionalism and expertise as Leaders in their class has benefitted the market as a whole.

I am delighted that Wes Butcher is taking the helm to lead Atrium’s Professional Liability team.  This is something we have been working towards with our long term succession plans and we know that Wes and his team will continue to build on the great foundations laid by Simon and David.”

Atrium is a major lead syndicate in the professional liability market specialising in most professional lines, primarily in the USA.
