Samit Shah
Chief Risk Officer

Samit Shah 2“I joined Atrium in July 2006 as leader of the actuarial team. This involved predominantly managing the reserving and capital modelling processes which led to more exposure to exposure management and capital modelling over time. In 2008 I attended a course at London Business School on ‘Developing Leaders at Lloyd’s’ to help develop leadership skills.

From 2011 I was handed responsibility for leading exposure management within Atrium and was appointed to the Board of AUL in 2012. Since then the role has evolved to cover risk management and I was appointed CRO in 2014.”

Wesley Butcher
Team Leader of the US Professional Liability team

Wesley ButcherI started my career in 1999 with Willis before joining Atrium in July 2000 predominantly working on the Casualty Reinsurance account in the early years before working exclusively on the Professional Liability business since 2005. Atrium funded and supported me through the ACII, which I completed in 2003.

Atrium fund and support career focused memberships and qualifications, which I take advantage of by being a member of PLUS. I successfully attended the Illinois State University “Katie School” program in 2003 and the LMA Professional Liability “WEMED University” in 2007.

In 2005 I was a member of the Lloyd’s Under 30’s tour of the West Coast of the USA. I was appointed team leader of the US Professional Liability team in early June 2014 and look forward to developing in my new role.”

Jonathon Hopper
Claims Adjuster

Jonathan Hopper“I began my Atrium career in 2012 whilst undertaking a six month secondment with the claims team as part of the Lloyd’s claims graduate programme. The placement provided a strong foundation in claims working with various members of the team and classes of business. In addition the placement also offered the opportunity of shorter placements in various teams around the syndicate and managing agency.

Following the completion of the programme I joined the Atrium claims team permanently with a focus on North American property and casualty claims support and handling. Initially working supporting more experienced members of the team. During the following year I developed my claims handling further through the completion of the Vale property examiner course in Pennsylvania and field experience with North American adjusting firms.

These training opportunities have been undertaken alongside regular internal training sessions covering a wide range of classes of business and IT systems. I recently completed my ACII qualification and currently handle predominantly North American property, casualty and international casualty claims”.

Charlotte Anthony
Assistant Underwriter

“I joined Atrium in 2010 as an Underwriting Assistant after completing my Masters. I am now an Assistant Underwriter in the Property Reinsurance team, which allows me to get involved with the underwriting and exposure management side of the account as well as being able to build relationships with brokers.

Since starting at Atrium I have had the chance to take advantage of many training opportunities, such as working towards completing my ACII. This has helped give me a broad understanding of the insurance and reinsurance sectors. I have further complimented this knowledge by working towards

a Postgraduate Certificate in Natural Hazards for Insurers at UCL, which specifically focuses on the underlying catastrophe risks that affect the Property Reinsurance account and how the insurance industry can be impacted and respond to such risks."
