Atrium enters the Weather and Climate market with new team appointment.
Atrium, the leading specialty insurance group at Lloyd’s, has entered the weather and climate insurance market with the appointment of a new team led by leading weather insurance veteran Dr Ed Byrns. The team will provide non-damage business interruption coverage to large commercial clients for losses resulting from non-catastrophic weather events such as temperature, wind speed, or precipitation. This is a data-centric class of business where robust quantitative analysis is paramount to enable the underwriting of complex risks.
Weather and Climate Insurance is a new underwriting class for Atrium. The specialist team will be led by Dr Ed Byrns, who joins from Brown & Brown. Ed previously held leadership roles at Citadel and Louis Dreyfus, in addition to Chief Technology & Innovation Officer at Munich Re Weather Group and CEO and co-founder of Demex Group, the technology enabled insurtech. Ed will be supported by a team of experts within the weather risk management space.
